Second Annual “There's No Place Like Home” Tour Recap
HousingWorks held its second annual “There's No Place Like Home” tour and reception, Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Over 85 people from the building industry, banking community, city government, non-profit social service providers, major employers, and faith based community joined us on our tour.
A recent poll (Spring 2008) conducted by HousingWorks Austin found that 70% of Austinites believe we should be a city with all kinds of homes in all parts of town and that local government enact policy to ensure that housing can be affordable for people with a wide range of incomes.
The tour provided a chance to view a diversity and variety of housing models that exemplify planning for inclusion of all kinds of homes in all parts of town; preservation and rehabilitation of existing homes; construction of new types of homes in densely developed neighborhoods; and development of low cost housing.
